New arrest in series of attacks, total now 18

The Rotterdam police are investigating a series of violent incidents on Ravelstraat in Capelle aan den IJssel, Kerkhoflaan and Jacques Dutilhweg in Rotterdam. There is probably a connection with attempted explosions at a house on Juliana van Stolberglaan in The Hague, which are being investigated by the The Hague police.

Yesterday, the Hague police made two more arrests for their investigation into Juliana van Stolberglaan. With the arrest of the 19-year-old man from Wassenaar, 18 suspects have now been arrested for the total number of incidents. The suspects are suspected of various roles, ranging from committing, facilitating or directing these attacks.

Overview of previous violent incidents
At the end of January, a fake arrest team tries to kidnap a man near a house on Jacques Dutilhweg in Rotterdam-Alexander. Two people are arrested. On February 5, an explosive goes off at a house on Ravelstraat in Capelle aan den IJssel, where a relative of the man who was almost kidnapped lives. On February 11, a house on Kerkhoflaan, where a relative of the man also lives, was the target of a shelling. Six people are arrested for this. On February 17 and 18 there were two more explosions on the Jacques Dutilhweg and on February 19 again on the Ravelstraat.

On Tuesday 20 and Thursday 22 February, an attempt was made to cause an explosion at a house on Juliana van Stolberglaan in The Hague. On the night of Friday 23 to Saturday 24 February, an explosive went off at the house on Kerkhoflaan, which had previously been shot at. On February 25, the house on Ravelstraat was again the target of an explosion. On Tuesday, February 27, another attempt will be made to place an explosion at the house on Juliana van Stolberglaan.

Overview of previous arrests
The Rotterdam police immediately made two arrests for the attempted kidnapping. Six suspects were arrested after the shooting of the house. Police unit The Hague arrested two people during the attempt on Juliana van Stolberglaan on Tuesday, February 20. On Tuesday, February 27, The Hague police also arrested two people.

On February 25, a 14-year-old boy from The Hague was arrested immediately after the explosion in Ravelstraat. The 14-year-old boy suffered injuries to his leg as a result of the explosion and required hospital treatment. After treatment in hospital, the boy was taken to the police station.

On Monday, February 26, around half past three at night, officers who were monitoring the house on Jacques Dutilhweg saw a scooter that was driving around suspiciously. When the officers tried to approach the driver, he took off on foot. The officer gave chase. While running, the suspect threw away a bag. The 16-year-old suspect was arrested. The discarded bag turned out to contain a firearm. The scooter turned out to be stolen and was seized.

At the beginning of March, a 24-year-old Rotterdam resident was arrested whose name emerged in the investigation into the shooting of the house on Kerkhoflaan. The two arrests by the The Hague police unit and the arrest of the man from Wassenaar bring us to 18 arrests so far. But investigations continue and more arrests cannot be ruled out.
