Years in prison for possession of 225,000 ecstasy pills and chemicals

The court in Den Bosch on Monday sentenced a 42-year-old man to four years in prison, of which sixteen months were conditional. He must also seek treatment for his psychological problems. The man stored 225,000 ecstasy pills and raw materials for the production of hard drugs. The Public Prosecution Service had demanded six years in prison against the man.

The police found the 225,000 ecstasy pills and raw materials (including 180 liters of methanol, 450 kilos of citric acid and 13 liters of phosphoric acid) during a raid in October 2023 at a company in Eindhoven where the suspect worked at the time. According to him, he kept those pills for a criminal contact and received 1,000 euros for them.

Previously convicted

When determining the sentence, the court takes into account that there is a large quantity of ecstasy pills and raw materials and that the suspect has previously been convicted for similar drug offenses. It is also taken into account that the suspect reported himself to the station two days after the police raid and made a confessional statement.

Personality disorder

In addition, the court takes into account that he is a vulnerable person. According to a psychologist, the man has a personality disorder with borderline and antisocial personality traits. The court also took into account that the suspect, as an ex-convict, had difficulty making ends meet legally and was trapped in the criminal environment.

In addition to the prison sentence and special conditions, such as outpatient treatment and guidance, the suspect must also serve a prison sentence of 852 days of conditional release from a previous conviction.
