Breda – Who saw fireworks on the Markt during carnival? That’s what the police want to know. On Saturday, March 18, a 29-year-old woman suffered severe burns to the inner thigh and pubic area when fireworks went off under her skirt. Because the market was packed with carnival people, hopefully there are people who saw it happen or someone has footage.
Around 3.15 p.m., the woman was standing near café de Vulling when things went wrong. She saw what appeared to be fireworks rising from the ground, which then exploded with a loud bang. Her carnival tights and tutu made of synthetic material melted away and the woman immediately felt a lot of pain.
Later in the hospital, she was found to have first, second and third degree burns to her thigh and pubic area. The woman is still in a lot of pain, relives and insomnia.
The police are calling on people who saw it happen to call 0900-8844. Also when people have footage, filmed themselves or from a security camera, they are asked to share it. This can be done by stating the number: 2023049140.
