Witnesses wanted: 60-year-old man severely assaulted at Ziggo Dome

Amsterdam – Saturday evening, March 18, 2023, a 60-year-old man was severely assaulted near the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam Southeast. While looking for a taxi on De Passage, he was pushed or hit by an unknown cyclist. The victim subsequently suffered serious injuries. The identity of the male cyclist remains unknown for the time being and the detective is therefore urgently looking for more information, witnesses and camera images.

The victim had visited an event in the Ziggo Dome that evening. At around 10:48 p.m., he was looking for a taxi in a small group and found himself on the cycle path on De Passage near the roundabout on the side of the Ziggo Dome. At one point he was passed by a cyclist coming up behind who pushed or slapped him, after which the man fell. After the man fell to the ground, the male cyclist drove away at increased speed in the direction of the Holterbergweg. The victim was left unconscious, later it turned out in the hospital that he had suffered severe neurological trauma.

Witness call

The identity of the cyclist involved has not yet been determined. The detectives would like to get in touch with people who may have more information about that cyclist and/or the case in general. For example, who witnessed the incident or has footage of it? At the time of the assault, the event in the Ziggo Dome was just ending, so there is a good chance that there are people who saw something of the incident itself and/or the fleeing cyclist(s). To refresh their memory, the victim is a tall man about six feet tall with short, light gray hair, then wearing a black coat.
