Witness wanted to abuse in Hoorn

Hoorn – On Saturday, March 4, a 13-year-old boy from Hoorn was assaulted between 4 and 4:30 pm at the Gangwerk near the Cruyff Court in De Grote Waal. The boy was beaten several times. Our investigation has shown that there was a bystander who intervened. Police would like to get in touch with this man and are also calling on other witnesses to come forward.

When the boy is on his way to the Cruyff Court with friends around 4 p.m., they do not give way to a cyclist. Where most of the group continues to cycle, the boy and a friend slow down and then pass the cyclist. An altercation ensues, resulting in a skirmish between the victim and the suspect. The boy is beaten several times. This continues until a bystander steps in and pulls the suspect off the victim. The cyclist then took off towards the small park behind the Westerdijk. The victim did not require hospital treatment, but was very shaken.
