Bergen op Zoom – The police arrested a 44-year-old woman from Bergen op Zoom at her home address on Sunday, April 7, 2024, around 12:40 p.m. for public violence. She is suspected of involvement in a fight and the assault of a 20-year-old woman from Bergen op Zoom that took place on the night from Saturday to Sunday on the Beursplein.
As previously reported, the police received a report of a fight on Beursplein on Sunday, April 7, 2024, around 4 a.m. It appeared to be quiet on site. However, a 46-year-old man and a 15-year-old girl from Bergen op Zoom were arrested there because they insulted and/or threatened the officers. They put up a lot of resistance during their arrest.
Research
Further investigation and viewing of camera images showed that these two suspects were involved in a fight that took place before the arrival of the police. Apparently a conflict arose in the street with another group of people, but no one has reported this to the police (yet).
Witness
A 20-year-old woman from Bergen op Zoom witnessed the fight. She picked up a bag from the ground after which she was assaulted by one of the fighters, probably the owner of the bag. She was hit in the head and pulled by her hair and briefly became unconscious. She was taken to hospital by ambulance for a check-up, but was allowed to go home after treatment. She has filed a report. The police suspect the 20-year-old woman who was arrested on Sunday afternoon of this assault.
