Will Sainz do well to leave Ferrari? ‘Audi is always a certainty’

Carlos Sainz Sr. has spoken with his son about Audi’s entry into Formula 1. From 2026, the daughter of the German car manufacturer Volkswagen will supply engines to the Sauber F1 team. According to Sainz Sr. could be a great project, even though his son has stated several times that his goal is to stay at Ferrari.

“Audi is always a certainty (in terms of success, ed.),” says Carlos Sainz Sr. against the Spanish Motor.es. ‘I know how seriously they take every project. I also know well what the famous German mentality means in practice, both the good and the less good sides. But we just have to have a lot of respect for the Volkswagen Group with Audi as part of it.’

Audi’s success in F1

From Sainz Sr. Audi receives a lot of praise for taking the step to Formula 1. ‘We all know it’s a special world. In my view it is only a matter of time before Audi is successful in F1. Of course it makes sense to talk to Carlos at home about what Audi can achieve, especially since I am a member of the Audi family,” Sainz Sr. concludes.

Or Sainz Jr. is waiting for it is the big question. Despite being linked to Audi, recent reports indicate that he would prefer to renew with Ferrari. His contract expires at the end of this year and so he wants to re-sign before the start of the coming season. In this way, Sainz hopes to have clarity that he can also compete for the Italian racing team in 2025.
