Wieteke van Dort thinks it’s great that friend Joost Prinsen has a relationship with Noraly Beyer. “I really like that for him. They are living proof that you are never too old to fall in love. I once sang a song about it: ‘Oh dear lord, what the hell, I’m already an old woman and I don’t really understand why I suddenly love someone.’
Discussing love with the elderly
“It goes even further, I like to recite it as a poem in the performances I play for the elderly. I always ask if there are people in the room who have recently fallen in love. They don’t say anything themselves, but the people behind them secretly point out to them. When I go up to them and ask the new couple how they came to be looking so radiant, you see the man looking proudly next to him at his eighty-year-old girl. That’s cute and beautiful at the same time. Isn’t it fantastic to discuss love with the elderly? Yes, I have a nice job.”
