In ANBO Magazine, Linda Wagenmakers talks about her first musical role in Miss Saigon and what it did to her: “My father came from a broken family, needed all his energy to stay afloat and didn’t really like me. Singing was my passion and my life, but auditioning for Miss Saigon, while I had actually already started studying law, was mainly a cry for confirmation. Being accepted was great, of course, until I realized that people now liked me because I was good at something. After a while it gave me a cramp, because I didn’t want that attention. How can I show my value? Not just a part, but the whole picture? Fame became something strange, being able to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest was a great honor, but after that… I had the feeling that I had to go all the way back to square one.”

Linda underwent a kind of voyage of discovery, which she calls ‘soul searching’. She learned that she really wants to touch people with her voice, that gives her satisfaction. Linda is currently performing in ‘Rust & Vreugd’, a performance based on the diaries of Hendrik Groen.
