As a member of the selection committee for the Dutch entries for the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’ and his role as commentator for the semi-finals and finals of the annual song competition, Cornald Maas is regularly under fire. Cornald tells Party about how he manages to keep his feet on the ground despite all the fuss surrounding him: “You have to remain yourself, no matter how difficult that is sometimes, stay true to yourself and continue to take risks.” . That sounds very clichéd, but it is also the case with the ‘Eurovision Song Contest’, for example. I thought: I’ll continue with it, because I love it and if other people question that or think I’m stupid because of it, that says more about those other people than about me.”
