It feels a bit strange: you can ask ChatGPT anything, right? Why would you make something ‘smaller’ when you already have something that can do everything? ChatGPT already had ‘plugins’, which were a kind of smaller version of its own GPT, but the idea is that you can use your own ChatGPT, for example. You see it on Canva, for example.
Canva has also had all kinds of ‘magical’ options for about a month now: for example, you can use a ChatGPT that helps you generate an image with text. But there are also other applications that are subdivided separately. This makes it a bit more defined and that can help with the fact that people often don’t know where to start when they have ChatGPT in front of them. People often hesitate because they don’t really know what they can or should ask, and a smaller version provides more guidance.
Custom ChatGPT
Such a custom bot is called a GPT, and OpenAI says you can connect your GPT to other sites and services to access databases, search emails, and automate e-commerce orders. “GPTs are a new way for anyone to create a customized version of ChatGPT to be more helpful in their daily lives, on specific tasks, at work or at home – and then share that creation with others,” OpenAI said .
No programming knowledge required
The advantage is that you don’t need to have any programming knowledge to make it. GPTs are there to understand natural language, so that also applies to building a new one. You just say what you want to use it for and ChatGPT does the rest. For example, if you have a site about learning to play chess, you can create a ChatGPT variant that tells visitors exactly how the board game works and can help you if visitors have any questions about it.
It is not yet possible to create your own ChatGPT, but it will be launched at the end of this month. This way you can choose ‘pre-made’ GPTs just like in an app store, but you can also set your own from 0. And if you have made a really fantastic variant, it might end up in the store and you can even make money with it. So you can work on a plan for a while.
