What time does qualifying for the 2023 Miami F1 Grand Prix start?

It’s Saturday, May 6, which means qualifying day for the 2023 Miami Grand Prix has arrived. Max Verstappen seems to have the best papers for pole position, but there are definitely privateers on the coast. You can read here what time the qualification starts.

Since this Grand Prix weekend is organized in the United States, it will be a late one for Dutch fans of the sport. For example, the third and final free practice session still starts at the reasonable time of 6:30 PM, but qualifying only starts at 10:00 PM. Provided there are no interruptions, such as red flags, we will know at 11 p.m. who will be in pole position on Sunday evening.

Verstappen vs. Leclerc for pole in 2023 Miami F1 Grand Prix?

Verstappen seems to be the favorite for pole position in Miami. The Red Bull Racing driver was the fastest man during the second free practice, but there are still more contenders for the first place on the grid. Think, for example, of Charles Leclerc, who took pole position twice in Azerbaijan last weekend thanks to the brand new Sprint format. Ferrari’s qualifying speed is also in order this weekend.

The racing speed of the SF-23 still leaves something to be desired and that is why there are opportunities for Sergio Pérez, who just won twice in Baku – also due to the Sprint format. The Mexican must also continue to perform well if he wants to put serious pressure on Verstappen in the title fight. Verstappen, of course, knows what it’s like in such a fight and can therefore safely be seen as the favorite – both for pole in Miami and the world title.
