The police arrested a 27-year-old man from Haaften and a 40-year-old man from Valkenswaard on Saturday night on the A2 near Vught, after a report about two people threatening with a firearm on the highway. During the arrest, the police fired two warning shots.
Portuguese license plate
Around 00.30, the police received a report that an occupant of a passenger car on the A2 near Hedel had been threatened with a firearm by occupants of a vehicle with a Portuguese license plate. Police officers saw this vehicle driving near Vught a little later and stopped the car with several police cars.
Knife and pepper spray
The suspects then failed to follow instructions several times. After the police fired two warning shots, the two suspects were arrested. A knife and pepper spray were found in the vehicle. A firearm was not found.
The vehicle is still under further investigation. The use of firearms by the police is being tested.
