Rotterdam – A warning shot was fired during an arrest on Galvanistraat in Rotterdam on Sunday morning, March 24. The arrest was made after a fight and the suspect was reportedly seen with a firearm.
Report of fight
Around 4:30 am we received a report of a fight on Galvanistraat. Someone was also said to have been seen with a firearm. This person, a 40-year-old man with no fixed abode and/or residence, then drove away. Officers followed the vehicle, which came to a stop near the intersection of Vierhavenstraat and Keileweg.
Officers asked the suspect to step out of the vehicle and show his hands. However, the man did not respond and grabbed his waistband. Because of this, together with the information that the suspect may have had a firearm, one of the officers felt compelled to fire a warning shot. The man was not injured and was subsequently arrested. No firearm was found during his arrest.
