Verweij: “I heard that Blind soon regretted his switch to Bayern”

Daley Blind regrets his move to Bayern Munich, Mike Verweij has heard. The journalist of De Telegraaf states that the Oranje-international has told a number of confidants.

Blind made the transfer to Bayern on a free transfer last winter, after his contract with Ajax was terminated. In Amsterdam, the experienced left leg was at odds with Alfred Schreuder. Now Blind will have to deal with a trainer change at Bayern, due to the exit of Julian Nagelsmann. “I do think this is very annoying for Blind, who, incidentally, very quickly regretted his move to Bayern Munich,” Verweij reveals in De Telegraaf’s Football Podcast.

“I think Blind has said that to a number of confidants,” Verweij continues. “If he had waited a little longer, Alfred Schreuder would have just left. He could have stayed with Ajax just fine. In the meantime, Bayern Munich quickly attracted a new left back (João Cancelo, ed.) Before he was settled in Munich.”

Blind’s contract with Bayern expires after this season, while he has only made five appearances for the club so far. The question is whether Der Rekordmeister wants to extend. “I think it is now very wise for Blind to opt for the escape route towards Marc Overmars, at Royal Antwerp,” says Verweij.
