Frédéric Vasseur believes that Ferrari should have no other goal this season than the world championship in Formula 1. The new team boss, who has taken over from Mattia Binotto, wants to attack Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing in the battle for the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
“As Ferrari, we can have no other goals than to win and take the titles,” Vasseur begins in conversation with Auto, Motor und Sport. “The team finished second in both championships last year and the essence of motorsport is to always get better, so we have no choice but to win and take the titles this year.”
Ferrari focuses on reliability
Ferrari must become stronger for this, especially in the area of the power source, Vasseur sees. Our priority is reliability, because that’s what you need at this time of the season. If you don’t have reliability you won’t be able to get through these three days of testing properly and you’ll start the championship off with a bad start.’
“We have been able to cover the kilometers we had to cover on the test bench and we are all optimistic,” Vasseur continues. “But only in Bahrain will we know where we stand in terms of performance, especially the engine. That was the main technical weakness last year. But so far everything is going well,” concludes the Frenchman.
