Vasseur confronted with Ferrari messages: 'I am also dissatisfied'

Frédéric Vasseur does not want to know about the internal turmoil that would play within his team. The Ferrari team boss has been confronted with news in recent days that several key figures would like to leave Maranello. Previously, former head of vehicle concept David Sanchez already did.

Media suggested that there is great dissatisfaction, but according to Vasseur it is very different. ‘It’s two different things when you have dissatisfied people. I think it’s pretty normal to have dissatisfied people if you don’t get the results you expect. I am also dissatisfied. The most important thing is that you work as a group to get the best out of this and find improvement. It’s just a different story if you want to leave the organisation’, says the Frenchman.

Motorsport.com asks Vasseur about race director Laurent Mekies. He would have offers in his pocket. However, his boss believes he will remain loyal to Ferrari. “If you’re talking about Laurent, I’ve known him for 25 years now, since he was in school, and I trust him. We have a very good cooperation and he will be one of the pillars of the future of this company.’

Ferrari experiencing F1 staff turnover, key positions hardly affected

On the other hand, Vasseur does not want to deny that there are departing personnel. But according to the 54-year-old, that phenomenon is not that strange. “Honestly, it’s the life of the team that we recruit a lot every year and we have progression every year. If you want to talk about key figures, I don’t think so. But we will definitely have people leaving the team and some people joining the team. It’s like that in every team in F1.’

When asked about the departure of technical leader Sanchez, Vasseur responds briefly. “I don’t want to talk about the terms of his contract. That is something between the employees and their company. I just want to wish David the best for the future. He has made a good contribution to this team, but it is what it is. I won’t go into details.’ In addition, a return of Simone Resta is also not on the agenda. ‘Simone is the technical director of one of our customer teams. He does a good job with Günther (Steiner, ed.) and it is not the plan that he will mean anything to us.’
