Van Hanegem sees ‘one of the best Feyenoord players’ struggling: ‘Don’t show it’

Willem van Hanegem hopes that Javairo Dilrosun will make more of his mark at Feyenoord. According to De Kromme, the 24-year-old wing forward is one of the best players in coach Arne Slot’s selection.

Dilrosun came over from Hertha BSC last summer. In 35 official matches, he scored six goals and eight assists. However, the one-time Orange international is not yet sure of a basic place. In recent weeks, Alireza Jahanbakhsh has been preferred to right winger.

“That is a really great player, one of the best we have,” says Van Hanegem about Dilrosun in the Willem & Wessel podcast of Algemeen Dagblad. “You hope every time, but he just doesn’t show it. Everyone sees that he can play football very well, even if things go wrong. You just see it. If he knows how good he is, it will be fine. He has to just show that he can play very well.”

According to Van Hanegem, Dilrosun must learn to choose his moments, among other things. “It’s not just about pinging, although he has the ability to outplay two, three people.”
