Van der Sar ‘refused’ to sound out Bosz: ‘Unable to step over shadow’

Edwin van der Sar refused to contact Peter Bosz after Erik ten Hag left Ajax, De Telegraaf reports. The general manager of the team from Amsterdam had a disagreement with the 59-year-old trainer in 2017, who was not an option after the dismissal of Alfred Schreuder at the beginning of this year.

After the departure of success coach Erik ten Hag, Van der Sar refused to throw a fish at Peter Bosz, who had led Ajax to the final of the Europa League in 2017 with offensive football, but because of disagreements with Dennis Bergkamp and Van der Sar from Amsterdam had left,’ De Telegraaf reports.

Ajax eventually chose Alfred Schreuder. Bosz was also unavailable at the time, as he was still working at Olympique Lyon at the time. “But even after seven league matches without a win and Schreuder’s dismissal in January 2023, Van der Sar was unable to step over his shadow and approach the now unemployed Bosz.”

Bosz has been associated with FC Twente several times in recent weeks, which will say goodbye to Ron Jans after this season. Arnold Bruggink, the new technical director of the Tukkers, has already said that he is charmed by the coach.
