Van der Garde very impressed by Red Bull: ‘That is really bizarre’

Giedo van der Garde is extremely impressed with Red Bull Racing’s pit stops this season. The former Formula 1 driver of Caterham notes that not only reigning world champion Max Verstappen is excelling, but the rest of the staff of the Austrian team is also achieving a particularly high level, according to the 38-year-old analyst.

In the first five races, Red Bull achieved no fewer than three double victories. The championship formation in China was also in good shape last weekend. Verstappen disappeared on the horizon early on and even two neutralizations could not cause the Dutchman any problems. However, not only Verstappen impressed at Red Bull last weekend, the pit crew also showed their very best side. The four best pit stops in China were all in the name of Red Bull. Van der Garde is extremely impressed.

“It’s really bizarre,” says the former racing driver in the DRS podcast. ‘Those guys have done so well. It also has to do with the people you put on it and the people within the team. That it is successful and that it works. These people are on, are well trained and have good equipment,” says Van der Garde.

Red Bull by far the best team

It is therefore clear to Van der Garde that Red Bull is also head and shoulders above the other Formula 1 teams as a team. ‘To be honest, at the moment Red Bull is by far the best team. In everything, not just with the car on the track and not just because Verstappen is the best driver. It’s just the big picture,” says the Viaplay analyst. ‘I mean, in terms of pit stops, strategy, driver, marketing, they’ve just done a really good job. There is now finally some peace in the team after that nonsense with (Christian, ed.) Horner’, Van der Garde finally mentions another important factor.
