Updates to the car should bring Alfa Romeo to the points: ‘We are going for the top ten’

Alfa Romeo has a clear goal: to take points in Australia. This should be possible with the new updates to the C43. Drivers Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou are now going into the race weekend with confidence. The car should now be faster and will now be able to compete better with the rest of the midfield, team representative Alessandro Alunni Bravi told Formel1.de.

Alfa Romeo wants to make up for the disappointing weekend in Saudi Arabia in Australia. In Jeddah the drivers failed to finish in the points, but now all arrows are focused on the Australian Grand Prix. Brand new updates to the C43 should help Bottas and Zhou take on the rest of the midfield.

Alfa Romeo got off to a good start to the season in Bahrain, where Bottas crossed the finish line in eighth place, earning four world championship points for the team. Zhou finished outside the top ten, but set the fastest lap time. In Jeddah, however, this trick failed to materialize and both drivers finished outside the top ten.

Alunni Bravi: ‘Updates will take us to the top’

According to Alunni Bravi, after the disappointing race in Saudi Arabia, points for improvement were immediately looked at, especially when it comes to the car. “We have taken the time to understand how we can get more performance out of the car,” said Alfa Romeo’s team representative. “We have now also put some new parts on the car and we hope that they will help the drivers on the track in Australia.”

Bottas is very much looking forward to the race at Melbourne’s Albert Park Circuit. He has already won the race in 2019. In addition, the Finn was also present at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival, where he was allowed to drive a V8 supercar as well as a classic Alfa Romeo touring car. “So I’m already in a racing mood,” he says.

Alfa Romeo drivers have set their sights on scoring points

The Finn goes into the race weekend with full confidence. “I want to get good results, especially on a track that I really like,” says Bottas. Our car has the potential to do well. Everyone sees how close the field is, so now it’s up to us to get into the top ten again.’

Teammate Zhou also wants to have points to his name. So far it has not been possible to get a place in the top ten, but the driver from China does not give up. “With the new updates, I am confident that it can be a successful weekend,” said Zhou. “We’ve talked a lot and we all know what we have to do to take the points home.”
