Up to twelve years in prison for shooting Siki Martina in Rotterdam

The court in Rotterdam imposed a twelve-year prison sentence on Monday on 33-year-old Ruchelo C. for shooting dead Rotterdam DJ and producer Siki Martina. 32-year-old Christopher L. has been acquitted of involvement in Martina’s death, but has been sentenced to six years in prison for attempted manslaughter (by shooting a third suspect) and possession of a firearm.

The third suspect, Siki Martina’s 35-year-old cousin, who had driven to the appointment with the victim, was sentenced to four years in prison for attempted manslaughter (by shooting the other two suspects) and possession of a firearm.

Rip deal

Siki Martina was shot dead at Coolhaven metro station on July 10, 2022, during an encounter attended by a total of four men. He had driven to the appointment with his cousin Marvin and was shot dead after an argument in which he and his cousin were threatened. The arrangement reportedly involved a drug deal involving one kilo of MDMA. All four people involved are men with Antillean roots.

Shooter

Extensive forensic research has shown that Siki Martina was shot dead from a very close range. During the investigation, a bullet casing was found near the gas pedal in the car of 33-year-old Rotterdam resident Ruchelo C.. The ammunition investigation showed that this casing is the only one that fits the weapon with which Siki Martina was shot. Because the suspect was the only one who did not leave the car at any time, and because the other two suspects had a different type of weapon, it is inevitable that C. fired the fatal shot. He is sentenced to twelve years in prison for this.

Attempted manslaughter

Christopher L. is acquitted of involvement in Martina’s death. He was convicted of attempted manslaughter and possession of a firearm. He deliberately shot in the direction of Martina’s cousin. He is therefore sentenced to six years in prison.

Miracle

The third suspect, the victim’s 35-year-old cousin, who drove to the appointment with Siki Martina, is sentenced to four years in prison for attempted manslaughter and possession of a firearm. He fired during the firefight, and it’s a miracle he didn’t fatally hit anyone. His appeal for emergency defense was rejected.

When imposing the sentence, the court took into account the circumstances of the incident and the cousin’s close relationship with the victim. The Public Prosecution Service had demanded six years against Marvin M.

In October, prison sentences of twelve and sixteen years were demanded against Christopher L. (32) and Ruchelo C. (33). According to the Public Prosecution Service, the two men tried to extort 3,200 euros from Siki Martina and his cousin in the ripping deal.
