Unknown substance in house Wells not harmful

Putten – On Sunday, April 16, a substance was thrown through the letterbox at a house on the Bouwmeestersgoed in Putten, causing seven people to become unwell. The police believe it is intentional and have launched an investigation. Police are still looking for witnesses.

After toxicological research by the RIVM, it has become clear that the substance in question was not harmful to health in this case. It is a substance with a strong unpleasant odor and can cause complaints of nausea. Inhalation of this substance can cause irritation of the respiratory tract (tingling, sore throat and cough, shortness of breath). The nausea and irritation are generally transient after exposure has ceased. Depending on the amount of liquid, direct contact can cause other health effects, such as burns.

The police investigation is on-going. No arrests have yet been made. There is currently no more information to share.
