Two suspects arrested for attempted carjacking

Eindhoven – The police arrested two suspects in their homes in Eindhoven and Berlicum on Tuesday morning around 6 a.m. They are suspected of trying to rob a man of his car and money at gunpoint on Saturday, March 4.

Threat

The 21-year-old victim from Nederweert left for home by car after his work in Eindhoven around 11 p.m. When he stopped for a moment on the Dr. Holtrolaan, two men unexpectedly boarded him. They threatened the man with a gun and a knife. He also received blows to the head. The suspects forced the victim to drive to a remote place in Swartbroek, Linmburg. They wanted to leave him there and take the car and his money with them.

Eventually, the victim managed to get the two to allow him to continue to a gas station along the A2 motorway. There he also managed to escape from the car with his car keys. The suspects then fled on foot without success. At the gas station, the man alerted the police. He immediately arrived on the spot and started an investigation.

Arrest

That investigation led to the arrest of the 24-year-old suspects from Berlicum and a 26-year-old suspect from Eindhoven on Tuesday morning, March 21. Both suspects were arrested by the police at their home. They have been detained for further investigation and will be questioned.
