Two arrests for robbery of an elderly couple

Amersfoort – On Wednesday, March 13, the police arrested a second person who may be involved in the robbery of an elderly couple in Amersfoort. On the night of February 9 to 10, they were robbed in their home on Zandbergenlaan.


Around 1:30 am, two people entered the couple’s home. When the two were in a bedroom, the couple woke up with a start. The 90-year-old man then tries to get the duo out of the bedroom and a scuffle ensues, in which the man is injured. The suspects grab some belongings and then flee from the house. The 90-year-old man was treated on the spot by the ambulance, his 87-year-old wife was obviously very shocked but fortunately remained unharmed.

Two arrests

On Saturday, February 10, the police were able to arrest one suspect, a 22-year-old man with an unknown place of residence. He’s still stuck. The second suspect later came to the attention of the police through investigation. The second suspect, a 20-year-old man, was arrested on Wednesday, March 13. The police suspect that more people were involved in the robbery and do not rule out multiple arrests
