Many photos with major national and international stars adorn the walls of Tonny Eyk (82). Thick books full of photos and clippings bulge out of the cupboards. Tonny: “The scrapbooks only came about when I became a bit popular; I have nothing from the early days.” Talking further with the man who has been entertaining people with his music for 65 years, he proudly shows us his photos with greats from history such as Willy Alberti, Johnny Jordaan and Toon Hermans. As mentioned, Tonny Eyk’s music room is overflowing with tangible memories of his hugely successful career. He tells us, “What I could keep, I kept. You called me about the LPs and as you can see there are quite a few here: I think a few thousand titles. Still, I don’t think I even have the LP you brought! It is a collection of songs about our Dutch provinces. I really have no idea how this record came about.”
