Tom Egbers confessed to Khalid & Sophie yesterday that he had several extramarital affairs during his marriage to Janke Dekker. One of them was a twenty-year-old intern. He was well over forty at the time. “She was good, fun and witty. An addition to the editorial staff”, according to Tom.
Intern could not accept that relationship with Tom Egbers was over
They lived near each other and drove home together. Thus began the affair, which would eventually last three years. “We kissed like minded people. We loved each other.” According to Tom, things went wrong when he ended the affair. “She couldn’t accept that. She kept sending messages anyway.” Tom Egbers’ daughter found the phone on which the communication took place. She showed it to her mother. Janke Dekker then called the intern. “My wife went to call her to ask why she kept harassing. And then she said things that were so explosive and wrong, but that also bombarded the life of my marriage.” Tom Egbers then exploded in a frenzy. And therefore made negative comments about the young woman to the editors. He regrets that.
