Breda – The police made three arrests during an action in Breda North on Monday, January 15, 2024, with the permission of the public prosecutor. It concerns two boys aged 16 and 17 and a 19-year-old young man. The arrests follow from an ongoing criminal investigation into, among other things, two violent incidents on Passendalestraat. Five homes were also searched under the supervision of the examining magistrate.
On Passendalestraat, heavy fireworks were placed against the facade of a house on Sunday, September 17, 2023, while two weeks earlier, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, two boys threw a stone through the window at the same address. These incidents caused a lot of social unrest in the neighborhood. A Large-Scale Investigation Team started an in-depth investigation into these crimes. Detectives conducted an extensive neighborhood investigation. The police also asked viewers of Bureau Brabant and Opsporing Verzocht several times for tips.
The police suspect the two minor suspects, who were arrested this morning, of involvement in the incidents on Passendalestraat. In addition, these two are also suspected of involvement in several other violent incidents that emerged during the investigation. The 19-year-old young man has been arrested because of his possible involvement in some of the other crimes that have become known. The suspects have been taken into custody. The trio will be brought before the examining magistrate next Thursday.
