Three beauty salons closed after threats (VIDEO)

A Utrecht entrepreneur has had to close her three beauty salons by order of mayors because she was seriously threatened. Investigation Requested showed images on Tuesday of a number of perpetrators who, among other things, left an explosive behind in Laren. The police say it is not clear who is behind the threats or is unclear, and a motive is also not clear.

Bullets through window

In February 2023, a man shot at a branch in Utrecht and a week later an explosive device was left behind in Laren in ‘t Gooi. The mayors of both places are keeping things closed for the time being and the third salon, in Roermond, is also closed for safety reasons.

The store in Utrecht is located on the Amsterdamsestraatweg. On the night of 9 to 10 February 2023, the shooter appeared there at 03:30. After hanging around for a bit, the man shot two bullets through the window. He seemed to make more firing movements, but there were no further hits. It is possible that the weapon refused or the shooter could not get it to work.

Explosive in Laren

Exactly one week later, in the night of February 16 to 17, a person was filmed sticking an explosive against the window. The police do not yet know whether this is the same man as in Utrecht or whether it is a different perpetrator. The explosive did not explode, but it was real. The Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service removed it and rendered it harmless.

It is not excluded that there was also an incident on January 21. At the Laren branch there was a crack in the windscreen. It was initially thought to be mischief or vandalism, but the police are now investigating it as a possible shooting incident.
