Third explosion in Amsterdam district within 24 hours


In Amsterdam, an explosive went off in the same neighborhood for the third time in one day. On Wednesday evening, an explosive went off on a balcony of a house. Mayor Halsema had already had a camera installed in the Waterlandplein neighborhood.

Balcony

The explosion took place shortly before midnight in Kennemerduinstraat in Amsterdam-Noord. A fire also broke out, which the fire brigade quickly managed to extinguish. This is reported by the city channel AT5. According to witnesses, the explosive went off on the second floor. A person allegedly threw it on the balcony.

The apartment was so damaged by the explosion that it can no longer be used. The police are investigating the incident.

Cameras

It was the third explosion in the area in 24 hours. Residents fled outside after the explosion. Mayor Femke Halsema urgently had cameras installed after two explosions occurred a few hours apart in the nearby Westerduinenstraat on Wednesday morning.
