Thierry Vermeulen is grateful to Verstappen junior and senior: 'It's great to be part of Max's passion'

Thierry Vermeulen, the son of Max Verstappen manager Raymond Vermeulen, is very grateful to the Red Bull Racing driver. The driver will make his debut in the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) this year and will be allowed to use the colors of the livery that Team Redline and Jos Verstappen also have on their cars. The latter also has a special place in Vermeulen’s career.

After several years of driving in other racing classes, Vermeulen will make his debut in the DTM this year. The racing class has already turned out to be an outing for some Formula 1 drivers, which means that the field is often very competitive. The driver will take place in a Ferrari, but he will drive with special colours. “It is of course very cool to drive with the Red Bull colors, and with a livery that has similarities with that of Team Redline and Jos’s rally car,” says Vermeulen at Motorsport.com. ‘It completes the picture completely.’

The DTM driver is part of the Verstappen.com Racing family. He is therefore very grateful to the two-time Formula 1 champion. With this initiative, Max shows how much motorsport means to him and that he also wants to give other drivers a chance. I really think this is the start of a team that will continue to grow in the coming years and hopefully show a lot of great things. For me personally it is of course very nice to be part of Max’s passion in this way.’

Vermeulen: ‘Always small matters that I can discuss with Jos’

Vermeulen is not only grateful to Verstappen junior. The Formula 1 driver’s father is often on hand to offer some tips, despite being busy with his own rally career. ‘Jos is indeed busy with his own programme. But we are still in constant contact with each other. There are always small matters that I can discuss with Jos. That is certainly important in a class like the DTM, where you are the only one in the car,’ says Vermeulen.
