The Hague: boys (11, 15) held for explosion, also explosive at another building


Two 11-year-old boys and a 15-year-old boy were arrested in The Hague on Saturday afternoon, suspected of involvement in an explosion in a porch on Oudemansstraat. An improvised explosive device was also found in front of a house on Wolmaransstraat on Saturday night.

A lot of damage

At around 5 p.m., a suspected fireworks explosion was detonated in a porch on Oudemansstraat. No one was injured, but there was a lot of damage to the porch. Two 11-year-olds and a 15-year-old boy from The Hague were arrested in the area. The two youngest suspects were interrogated in the presence of their parents and then released. The 15-year-old is still in custody. The police are investigating the case.

Improvised explosive device

An improvised explosive device was found in front of a house on Wolmaransstraat in The Hague on Saturday night around 00.45. The Defense Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service (EOD) arrived on site to dismantle the explosive in the nearby Transvaal Park. Forensic experts have taken the various parts for trace research, and the police are investigating the case.

More minors

On Friday night, two boys aged 13 and 14 were also arrested in The Hague on suspicion of planting a fireworks explosive in front of a shop on the Hogewal.
