Tesla Cybertruck has big problems: here they are

A leaked document shows that Tesla’s gigantic Cybertruck is struggling with serious problems. Among other things, the colossus would just hit the brakes hard and hit traffic bollards and signs. We already knew that it was a fairly clumsy car on paper, but that is now also apparent in practice. And not just funny rude, but also dangerous.

Cyber truck

No less than 100GB of internal Tesla documents were sent to the German Handelsblatt leakedand that’s spicy. Not only in terms of file size, because servers in Germany can handle that, but the fact that it contains no fewer than 2,400 complaints about the cars. That’s a lot, a lot. More than 1.6 million Cybertrucks have been pre-ordered, but they are not delivered quickly: they are mainly postponed a lot.

Tesla says it can build about 250,000 to 500,000 Cybertrucks per year. At the moment, a Cybertruck was only spotted on public roads for the first time in April: it is therefore not the case that they are already on the road. But tests also show that many problems arise with the device, especially when it comes to braking.

Braking too spontaneously

The cars would just brake and make emergency stops without the owners having any control over this. This concerns complaints about cars in Europe, the United States and Asia, which occurred between 2015 and 2022. So this does not only look at the Cybertruck, but at Tesla’s Autopilot in general. This is the technology that makes the Tesla semi-self-driving. It helps you brake in time to prevent accidents, although it now appears that in the case of the Cybertruck, accidents can be caused by too enthusiastic braking to nothing.

It is especially exciting that so much information has been leaked should authorities be looking for evidence to show that the Cybertruck is not safe. That would potentially mean that the company has been misleading both to those authorities and to customers. This could lead to lawsuits in which Tesla may have to pay. Or at least a dent in his image. It also doesn’t really help with the image of self-driving cars in general: cars that brake so abruptly and cause unsafe situations are not ready to have to take full control of driving. Too bad, because there are also many companies besides Tesla that are doing well with this.

Faltering image

Anyway, Tesla itself also has enough challenges in itself: many cars are postponed and postponed and since 2020 we have not seen a new car for consumers from the brand at all. You can also see it in the Netherlands: Tesla was the best seller one month and the next month the brand was not even in the top 10. It’s a bit fickle how Tesla is doing. Maybe you can also ask yourself how you read this news yourself. Are you really surprised about it, or has Tesla’s image already started to falter to such an extent that this doesn’t even come as a surprise?

Tesla was that breath of fresh air through the car industry: it was the forerunner of technological developments, but it all seems to have come to a standstill now. The fact that a death is regularly reported does not help the image. The fact that Elon Musk has also been very busy with Twitter does not help, precisely because he is so outspoken about it, so that there seems to be an imbalance. In any case, it remains to be seen whether that Cybertruck with all its complaints should appear: not for the sake of Tesla’s image, but for the sake of people’s safety.
