Ten Cate and Gullit disagree about Classic winner: ‘I don’t believe they will win’

Ruud Gullit expects Feyenoord to win the Classic next Sunday. The former top football player thinks that the Rotterdammers have received a huge boost after the midweek monster victory against Shakhtar Donetsk (7-1).

Gullit was presented with the following statement on the Ziggo Sport program Football Café on Friday evening: Feyenoord is going to win in the ArenA. “Yes, completely agree,” said the former AC Milan player. “I expect it. Ajax was not waiting for this seven-hit. They (Feyenoord, ed.) Got such a boost from this. And I think Ajax also thinks to itself: this is a really good team. I think that they look at Feyenoord differently than in previous years.”

Fellow analyst and former trainer Henk ten Cate thinks completely differently. “I don’t believe they will win. That would be the first time in nineteen games. Of course, it has to be the first time, but I don’t see that happening. I see Ajax winning.”

Whatever happens, Feyenoord is bursting with self-confidence, concludes Jan van Halst. “Feyenoord drives whistling to Amsterdam. That does not mean that they will win, but they are full of self-confidence.”
