The police arrested two boys aged 16 and 17 and a 19-year-old man during an action in Breda-Noord on Monday in an investigation into two violent incidents on Passendalestraat. A stone was thrown through the window there in September 2023 and two weeks later heavy fireworks were placed against the facade of a house. It was a police officer’s house.
A lot of unrest
The attack on Passendalestraat took place on Sunday, September 17, 2023 with heavy fireworks. The explosion destroyed the roller shutter and a window. Two weeks earlier, on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, two boys threw a stone through the window at the same address. These incidents caused a lot of unrest in the neighborhood.
A Large-Scale Investigation Team started an in-depth investigation into these crimes. Detectives conducted an extensive neighborhood investigation. The police also asked viewers of Bureau Brabant and Opsporing Verzocht several times for tips.
Arraigned
During the investigation, the police also came across other crimes with which the two minor suspects are associated. The 19-year-old man has been arrested because of his possible involvement in some of the other known crimes. The suspects are in custody and will be brought before the examining magistrate on Thursday. That decides whether they will remain in custody longer.
A total of five homes were searched this morning under the supervision of the examining magistrate.
