On the day we recently spoke to Tanja Jess, January 29, 2024, it was exactly twenty years ago that Guusje Nederhorst died on January 29, 2004. Tanja still thinks about her regularly, as she says in the new Party: “Her death was a tragedy. At 34, she was of course much too young. We had both just had a child. We had big plans. For example, she wanted more children. I think many people experienced her death as very intense. Such a young woman who was just allowed to become a mother, something that was a long-cherished wish of hers… It was so hard that she had to say goodbye to life and her baby and husband. You just can’t get that straight in your head. It was so heartbreaking. I still miss her very much.”
