Taghi appeals against life sentence

Ridouan Taghi (46) is appealing against the life sentence he was given on February 27 in the Marengo trial. This is what his lawyer Michael Ruperti told NU.nl. Saïd Razzouki (51) and Mario R. (44) also received life sentences. Razzouki announced on the day of the ruling that he would appeal.

Dragging process

The judge ruled in the case at the end of February in the extra-secure court De Bunker in Amsterdam-Osdorp after a drawn-out process of almost six years and 142 hearing days. The court considers it proven that the criminal organization, of which Ridouan Taghi was the leader, is responsible for five murders, two attempted murders and several preparations for murder. One murder in the investigation cannot be attributed to the organization.

A total of seventeen suspects have been sentenced to prison terms of between one year and nine months and life in prison.

Lawyer team

Lawyer Michael Ruperti will again defend Taghi during the appeal, together with Arthur van der Biezen and Sjoerd van Berge Henegouwen. The same team also assisted Taghi last year when he found himself without a lawyer.
