Hillegom – The Leiden-Bollenstreek district police arrested a total of four suspects on Tuesday morning, July 2, in connection with the assault of a 15-year-old man from Hillegom. The victim was assaulted on Saturday evening, March 2, on a sports field on Van der Endelaan in Hillegom and sustained a serious head wound. The suspects have since been questioned.
Officers received a report on Saturday 2 March at around 19:45 that there had been a fight at the football club. Officers found the victim on the spot, he appeared to have a serious head wound, had been robbed of his phone and stated that he could not remember anything of what had happened. Detectives started an investigation that led to the identity of the suspects who have now been arrested. They, 16-year-olds from Hillegom, Lisserbroek and Dordrecht and a 17-year-old from Leidschendam, were arrested on Tuesday morning 2 July and detained for questioning. After the arrests, searches were carried out in the homes of the suspects. The suspects were questioned by detectives and then released. They remain suspects in the case.
