In the Chilean capital Santiago, a female suspect managed to take a firearm from a security guard during an arrest on Monday and shot with it. Three people were injured.
Safety precautions
The incident took place on Monday morning at the entrance to a market in Pedro Aguirre Cerda, a southern part of the capital Santiago. Precisely because new safety measures had been introduced around the market, many television crews were present and everything was filmed.
Nail file
A drunk woman tried to enter the property several times without showing her ID. She was arrested after threatening a security guard with a metal nail file.
When officers wanted to transport her in a police van, the woman grabbed a firearm from a security guard in an unguarded moment and shot several times. Three people were injured, at least one of them seriously.
Manslaughter
The suspect is 54 years old and has a criminal record. In 2006 she was arrested for assault and in 2017 she committed shoplifting.
The public prosecutor has announced that the woman will be prosecuted for manslaughter.
