Suspect (29) in Zwanenburg shooting arrested in hotel Alkmaar


During the investigation into a shooting in Zwanenburg, the police arrested a 29-year-old man of no fixed abode in a hotel in Alkmaar. A 31-year-old man from Beverwijk was seriously injured in the shooting at a company on Heining in Zwanenburg on Saturday afternoon, March 9.

Police reported a day after the shooting incident that the victim had an argument with another man, which turned into a fight. The suspect fired shots and the 31-year-old victim was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Despite an extensive search, the suspect was not found.

Pretrial detention extended

Today the police reported that a suspect was arrested in a hotel in Alkmaar after almost a month. This concerns a 29-year-old man without a permanent place of residence. He has now been brought before the examining magistrate, who decided to extend the pre-trial detention. On Wednesday, April 10, the suspect must appear before the court chamber, which will decide whether the suspect should remain in pre-trial detention longer.

Business conflict

An investigation into the shooting incident is still ongoing. According to the police, there are indications that the motive lies in a business conflict, and it is unclear what role the suspect had in that conflict.
