Suriname police distributes an investigation notice for Bouterse

The police in Suriname have issued an arrest notice for Desi Bouterse. The former president was sentenced to twenty years in prison for his role in the December murders, but fled.

He is now on the police website with photo and personal details. It was previously announced that the Public Prosecution Service would track down Bouterse. His former bodyguard Iwan Dijksteel is also tracked down.

Three of the four other convicted ex-soldiers (Ernst Gefferie, Benny Brondenstein and Stefanus Dendoe) have reported to Santo Boma prison. The three soldiers were sentenced to 15 years in prison and entered a prison 20 kilometers from Paramaribo last week.

It is not known where Bouterse is. His wife also says she doesn’t know where he is.
