Stolen car leads to discovery of hard drugs

Utrecht – A violent car theft ultimately led to two suspects and the discovery of a significant amount of hard drugs.

On Sunday, January 21, the police received a report about a violent car theft on Rooseveltlaan around 8:35 p.m. The suspect attacked the owner of the car with a weapon and injured the man.

The police went to the scene with several units and conducted an extensive investigation in the area. The police found the stolen car shortly afterwards on Griffioenlaan. Other officers saw a man walking away who matched the description and stopped him on Drommedarislaan.

During the investigation of the stolen car, officers discovered that the owner not only saw his car disappear, but also a significant amount of hard drugs that he was transporting. The “victim” turned out to have between 300 and 500 grams of packaged cocaine in his car. The owner of the car was also arrested for possession and trafficking in narcotics.

During the follow-up investigation in the home and garage of this suspect, officers found a number of zipper bags containing cocaine and a quantity of money.

Both suspects, a 22-year-old and a 41-year-old resident of Utrecht, have been detained for further investigation.
