Physically he is doing better, mentally he is still having a hard time. That is the situation of Vincent Zieren, who was stabbed in February. He let us know this through his lawyer Sébas Diekstra.

Zieren is currently unable to work as a general practitioner. In February, as an observer in a GP practice in The Hague, he was stabbed by a patient at the end of a consultation and was seriously injured.

This Wednesday, the case against the man suspected of stabbing will be substantively dealt with by the court in The Hague. According to Diekstra, who specializes in assisting victims in violent cases, among other things, the preliminary legal investigation has shown that the suspect is mentally insane. To what extent is up to the judge to determine, and determines the penalty. The suspect is charged with deliberately attempting to rob the acting GP’s life, with or without premeditation, and/or causing serious bodily harm to him.
