Snapchat plans to make the app more personal and creative with new features. One of the most important new options is that you get Templates: they are templates that should enable you to create videos more easily. This will hopefully save you some time in editing, because that is always a job that takes many minutes and sometimes even hours.
Video templates on Snapchat
You’ll find the new Templates under Memories or your camera roll, all you have to do is add a song and you can quickly put the video together because it follows a template. In addition, you can now make longer videos, with which Snapchat is following TikTok, among others. It is possible to shoot longer videos directly (3 minutes), but also upload longer videos, namely 5 minutes in Chats, Stories and the Spotlight.
Snap has also added new options to use Snapchat’s camera itself and take fun snapshots. Lenses have always been an important part of this and now many AI lenses are being added. Snapchat wants to work more with themes, to immediately deck you out in a whole theme. More and more are being added, the social media platform promises.
A Bitmoji of your pet
The company also has something in store for Snapchat+ members. Pet-to even: you can now make a Bitmoji of your dog, cat or other pet. You do this via Snap Map and the artificial intelligence then creates an avatar of your four-legged friend who will sit next to you on the Map. If you have no pets, but have added a best friend to your account (also only possible for +’ers), you can now pose next to his or her Bitmoji in your friendship profile.
Snapchat currently has a user base of 800 million people. In the Netherlands, WhatsApp has the largest share as a basic means of communication, but in a country like Norway, Snapchat seems to be much more the standard. Yet it is also widely used in the Netherlands: Snapchat reported in September 2023 that there are 5 million monthly active users in the Netherlands and that the app is opened an average of 40 times a day.
