Sixth suspect (19) arrested for fatal shooting in Purmerend


The police have arrested a sixth suspect in the investigation into the fatal shooting at the train station in Purmerend. It concerns a 19-year-old man from Purmerend. He was arrested in Amsterdam on Wednesday and is under restrictions. This means that he may only have contact with his lawyer.

Railway station

On Monday evening, February 12, the police received a report of a shooting incident at Purmerend train station around 8:05 PM. A 19-year-old man from Purmerend died. Another man, a 19-year-old man from the municipality of Medemblik, was seriously injured. He is currently still in hospital.

Suspects

On Tuesday, February 13, a 16-year-old boy from Purmerend was arrested in connection with the shooting incident. He’s still stuck. Two more arrests were made a day later. The 18-year-old man from Amsterdam is still in custody. The 16-year-old boy from Purmerend has been sent away. He still remains a suspect in the investigation.

The 15-year-old boy from Amsterdam, who was arrested on Wednesday, February 21, is still in custody. One of the suspects took pictures of the dying victim. On March 4, a 19-year-old man from Landsmeer was arrested. He is also still in custody.

Conflict

The police suspect that a conflict between young people in Purmerend may have caused the shooting incident. This is being further investigated. More arrests cannot be ruled out, the police said on Monday.
