Six arrested after three explosions in Heerhugowaard


In an investigation into a series of explosions in Heerhugowaard, the police in North Holland have arrested six suspects. These are young men aged 17 to 24. Two of them, boys aged 17 and 18 from Heerhugowaard, were arrested on March 10.

Major damage

The three explosions took place at the front doors of two different residential addresses on Middenweg in Heerhugowaard. The first explosion was on the night of Saturday March 2 around 3:15 am. One day later, on Sunday March 3, a front door was also detonated by an explosive around 3:15 am. A week later, on Sunday March 10, the third explosion took place. The explosives caused extensive damage to homes. The consequences were limited to material damage.

Arrests

On March 19, a 24-year-old man of no fixed abode and a 17-year-old boy from the municipality of Koggenland were arrested. A day later, an 18-year-old man from Heerhugowaard was arrested. These suspects will be brought before the examining magistrate on Friday, March 22.

The 17-year-old suspect who was arrested on March 10 will remain in custody longer. Two 18-year-old men from Heerhugowaard, arrested on March 10 and 16, have now been released but remain suspects in this investigation.

The police continue the investigation into the explosions on the Middenweg in Heerhugowaard.
