Aboes G. (55), suspect in the murder of Zwolle resident Danny Nijland (38) in Zwolle in December 2023, remains completely silent and will remain in custody for at least three months longer. This became apparent on Thursday during a pre-trial hearing before the court in Zwolle, according to website 1Zwolle.

Former No Surrender member Aboes G. was arrested in Maarssen on Thursday evening, December 21, on suspicion of involvement in the shooting in the Zwolle district of Holtenbroek, which claimed the life of local kickboxer Danny Nijland earlier that afternoon.
Hit at close range
The Public Prosecution Service assumes that G. acted alone. On the December evening in question, he is said to have waited in his car at the Glenn Miller apartment on Palestrinalaan until Nijland emerged. The victim is said to have been stuck on the street at the back of the building and then shot. According to the Public Prosecution Service, Nijland was hit several times at close range in the heart and lungs. He died in hospital from his injuries.
Gunpowder traces
According to the judiciary, a jacket with gunpowder traces was found in the car of murder suspect G. and gunpowder was also found on his hands. The traces still have to be compared with the bullet casings found at the crime scene. The Public Prosecution Service did not consider further investigation into G.’s mental state necessary.
Nothing is yet known about a motive for the murder. The case will continue in mid-June.
Small cannabis farm
On January 6, 2023, a cannabis nursery with 19 plants was found in Nijland’s home on Palestrinalaan. Housing association Delta Wonen filed summary proceedings against the resident in March 2023 to vacate his home, but Nijland was ultimately allowed to continue living there. He did receive a warning from the municipality.
Nijland was under guardianship. He was also active as a kickboxer in the past.
