Seventh explosion in the Rotterdam region within a week (UPDATE)

An explosive device went off at a house on the Pruimentuin in South Rotterdam on Thursday night. The facade was severely damaged. It was already the fourth attack on a Rotterdam home in four days and the seventh in the Rotterdam region within a week. Later in the night an explosive also went off at a house in Spijkenisse.

At the house on the Pruimentuin in Rotterdam where an explosion took place at 02.50, the window frame and the door were damaged. Pieces of wood from the window frame were scattered throughout the front yard. No one was injured.

Two arrests

The police have cordoned off the crime scene and are investigating with, among others, an explosives specialist. The Forensic Investigation has done trace research. Two suspects aged 21 and 29 from Rotterdam were arrested in the immediate vicinity. The role of both suspects is being investigated by the detective.

Spijkenisse

Around 06.00 an explosion also took place at a house on the E. Flipsestraat in Spijkenisse. This mainly caused glass damage and damage to the front door. No injuries were reported here either. The detective takes into account an incident in the relational sphere.

Seventh explosion

In Rotterdam this week there were also explosions at homes on Vredenoordlaan in the Kralingen-Crooswijk district, on Sint-Andriesstraat in Rotterdam-Feijenoord and at the Aprikozentuin, which is next to the Pruimentuin. Last Friday there were explosions at homes on Brabantsestraat and Asserweg in Rotterdam.
