Amsterdam – This morning around 10.30 am a cyclist became trapped under a truck. This happened on Scheldestraat in Amsterdam’s Rivierenbuurt. The woman on the bicycle was seriously injured. As soon as the fire brigade was able to free her, she was rushed to hospital with serious injuries. An investigation team specializing in serious traffic accidents is investigating the incident. They call on witnesses and bystanders to share information and to share any camera images (for example from dashcams, video doorbells and security cameras) with the police.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 and took place at the intersection of Scheldestraat with Churchilllaan. Due to the on-site investigation, Churchilllaan and Scheldestraat will be closed for some time, including for public transport.

The driver has been arrested and will be heard as a suspect, as is customary in serious traffic accidents.
