Job offer

Are you a senior information analyst and do you have experience developing a change strategy? Can you make the organization enthusiastic about innovative data science solutions for a sustainable, safe and healthy living environment? We offer you this coordinating role, where you also bring your direct colleagues along to realize that change strategy.

At the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service (OD NZKG) we are looking for you: a senior information analyst who will lead the organization in the further development of advanced and innovative information analyses. The main goal is to gain (even) more insight into the processes of licensing, supervision and enforcement through these analyses. This way we can approach these processes in a proactive and predictive manner and adjust them where necessary.

View the challenge

In a world in which data is playing an increasingly important role, it is also important for the North Sea Canal Area Environmental Service to provide targeted analyzes to issues in the field of construction, soil and the environment. We are therefore making a switch to Data Driven Working through the DGW program.

The Information Analysis team plays an important role in this. They connect environmental issues to relevant and available data. So that we can view strategic and tactical choices from all sides. In the coming years, the amount of available data will continue to increase. The challenge for you and your team is to use this selectively and purposefully, both quantitatively and qualitatively.

How you contribute

As a senior information analyst:

  • Develop a strategic vision on information analysis together with internal customers and stakeholders
  • Analyze your (big) data, design and implement predictive and explanatory models and smart algorithms. For example, to monitor parts of our strategic agenda.
  • Translate your substantive issues into information issues. You look beyond the quantitative and qualitative content and take into account different interests and sensitivities in the development of analyses.

As the right hand of the Information Analysis team manager, you are also functionally responsible for the team: the working method, production and preconditions. Your challenge is to increasingly connect the team with current and future issues. You also ensure that the organization is able to connect issues to the information analysis at the right times.

The team, consisting of 9 information analysts, has the ambition to develop from operational analyzes to more predictive and explanatory analyzes at the tactical level.

Your role in this:

  • You use your knowledge, experience and skills to support the employees in the team in this development.
  • You create coherence between processes and activities and coordinate ongoing projects and initiate new tasks or projects.
  • You take care of the division of work and, if necessary, you assist yourself.

What are you bringing?

In addition to knowledge in the field of information analysis, you can inspire colleagues and convince them of the added value of advanced information analyses. You are able to set up various forms of cooperation for this.

You can make good connections, both internally and externally. This is a requirement to connect all wishes in the field of information analysis within the organization. From licensing to supervision and enforcement.

You are easily approachable, both for your direct colleagues and for team managers and stakeholders. You switch smoothly and quickly from strategic to tactical/operational level and back again.

Your thinking about information analysis starts with the challenges of the environmental service in the areas of construction, soil, environment and sustainability. Experience with permit, supervision and enforcement processes is an advantage.

We further ask:

  • academic working and thinking level
  • extensive experience in conducting data analyzes and using statistical methods;
  • mastery of one or more programming languages such as ‘R’ or ‘Python’
  • experience with machine learning/artificial intelligence and data visualizations;
  • experience as a project leader

What we offer

You will be part of the Information Analysis team, which currently consists of 9 employees.

Our central meeting place is the office in Zaandam, right next to the train station, but we work hybrid. Wherever you work, we provide the equipment and facilities to do your job properly.

We also offer you plenty of development opportunities and an attractive employment conditions package.

This includes, among other things:

  • A full travel allowance per public transport.
  • An extensive tailor-made training program, tailored to your needs.
  • The OD school: a wide range of internal training courses, from project-based work to inspiring presentations.
  • Your own sustainable employability budget of €5,000 every five years.
  • A contribution to the gym.

Add to this an Individual Choice Budget or IKB of no less than 22.37%, which brings your maximum annual salary to €92,853.
